HyCoSy

This is an exam for patients who are having trouble conceiving. It is an outpatient procedure that requires laparoscopic surgery but does not require hospitalization. The full name of the examination is – ultrasound examination of fallopian tube patency using a contrast agent.

The ExEm Foam Kit is used, which is a contrast medium mixed with purified water that is injected into the uterine cavity, advances further into the fallopian tubes and, if the fallopian tubes are patent, the liquid enters the abdominal cavity. With the help of ultrasound, the flow of the contrast medium is monitored at the same time, and then the shape of the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes are assessed.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and is gentle and painless (the examination can be a bit uncomfortable). The examination is carried out on the 7th to 11th day of the cycle.
